Patna:  Jitan Ram Manjhi, former Bihar Chief Minister and Hindustani Awam Morcha’s leader, resigned today from the primary membership of the JD-U and also from the Bihar Assembly.

“Manjhi has formally resigned from the primary membership of the JD-U and also as a legislator,” HAM’s spokesperson Danish Rizwan said in Patna.

Mr Manjhi’s HAM has joined hands with the BJP led NDA in Bihar ahead of state polls.

He has pledged to work to ensure the defeat of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal-United and Mr Lalu Prasad’s Rashtriya Janata Dal.

His resignation came ahead of HAM’s national executive meeting in Patna today to chalk out the party’s strategy for the polls.
