BJP's student wing ABVP sweeps Delhi University elections

ABVP supporters celebrate after the results were announced

New Delhi:  The BJP’s students’ wing, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad or ABVP, has sweeped the Delhi University’s  students’ union polls  by winning all four seats for the second consecutive year.

Over the years, the traditional fight has been between the Congress affiliated National Students Union of India (NSUI) and the BJP’s Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP). But this year saw the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) affiliated Chhatra Yuva Sangharsh Samiti (CYSS) entering the electoral battle.

Satyendra Awan, the newly elected president of the ABVP, said the result “is the victory of each student.”

The polling took place over two phases. A total of 1,35,298 students voted in the election.
